Counsel-review pending. This page is published in a provisional form during our Wave 2 launch window. Wording will be finalized after securities counsel sign-off; the legal effect is unchanged in the interim.

Disclosures

The complete disclosure page

Everything a reader needs to know about who we are, what data we use, what we do and do not sell, and how our public copy is reviewed. Written in plain English on purpose.

Regulatory status

Value of Stock publishes educational research about publicly traded U.S. companies. We are a publisher, not a registered investment adviser, and nothing on this site is personalized investment advice. Our numbers are estimates derived from public SEC filings and public U.S. Treasury data; they are not recommendations to buy or sell any security. The short form of this appears on every per-stock page as a persistent line under the action badge.

Data sources

  • U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission — EDGAR filings (10-K, 10-Q, material 8-K). Public.
  • U.S. Department of the Treasury — daily Treasury yields. Public.
  • Completed-day U.S. equity closing prices from a market-data provider. We do not use intraday quotes.

We do not use analyst estimates, sell-side price targets, guru portfolios, insider newsletters, or 13F filings. We do not claim to have proprietary alternative data.

The action-badge language

Every per-stock page carries an action badge in one of six states: Buy Now, Undervalued — Wait, Hold, Exit, Avoid, or No Rating. These are educational labels describing where today's market price sits relative to our filing-based Estimated Fair Value and Safe Buy Price. They are not solicitations, not personalized advice, and not forecasts of future stock returns. At launch, our default wording uses the softer descriptive form (for example, “Undervalued — Below Safe Price”); the directive form is behind a feature flag and only surfaces after counsel sign-off.

The persistent disclaimer

Every per-stock page, every OG image, and every card in a top-10 list carries this line immediately under the action badge:

Not investment advice. Educational research based on public SEC filings. See methodology.

The word “methodology” links to /methodology and the “See more” link points to this page.

“Financials Not Qualified” review requests

When our engine flags a company as “Not qualified,” it means the filings on file do not yet meet our threshold for a defensible fair-value estimate. Any issuer, IR representative, or informed reader can request a review at /contact. We reply to every review request, and we correct the record promptly if we made an error.

Track record and repost policy

Where we highlight a prior call whose thesis has since been confirmed by price action, the highlight is attached to the original post as a quote. The full directional log — including calls that did not work — is published at /track-record. We do not selectively delete losers. If a directional post is more than seven days old, it appears in the track-record log regardless of outcome.

Advertising and affiliate disclosure

Some pages on this site carry advertisements or affiliate links to brokerage accounts, subscription products, or tools. When a link is an affiliate link, the accompanying label reads “Advertisement — we may earn a commission if you sign up through this link.” No ad appears above the action badge on a per-stock page or a top-10 list. Affiliate revenue never changes what an engine call looks like: we do not adjust an Estimated Fair Value or a Safe Buy Price because a broker pays a commission.

Marketing consent (GDPR / CCPA)

Every lead-capture form on the site records an explicit, unchecked-by-default marketing-consent checkbox. When a visitor submits an email, we store the consent timestamp alongside it. Unsubscribe links appear in every marketing email and work in a single click.

Cookies

The site uses cookies for analytics, ad delivery on ad-supported pages, and third-party trackers embedded in our calculator tools. The cookie-consent banner covers each of these categories. Users can update their choice at any time via the consent control in the footer.

Positions and independence

We never adjust a valuation because we, or anyone we know, has a position in the stock. The engine produces the same number for every reader; there is no paying-user override, no editorial override, and no “buy the model” tier.

Review cadence

The legal copy on this page, the short disclaimer under the action badge, and the marketing-consent copy are reviewed by counsel before launch and at least annually thereafter. Any material change requires the same discipline as changing any other whitelisted public string: it lands in the public methodology, the iOS app strings, the tweet templates, and this page in the same deployment.
